The US guarantees Israel that the nuclear pact with Iran is good for its security

Washington, Aug 22 – The United States responded to Israel on Monday that the return to the nuclear pact with Iran is the “most effective” way to address its security concerns, after acting Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid , opposed the agreement.

“Israel has deep concerns about Iran’s nuclear program. We continue to believe that a mutual return to the nuclear pact is the most effective way to address those concerns,” State Department spokesman Ned Price told a news conference.

Price assured that the United States has been informing Israel “since day one” about the negotiation process with Iran to return to the 2015 nuclear pact, which limited Tehran’s nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of sanctions and which was abandoned by the President Donald Trump (2017-2021) in 2018.

“Of course Iran figures prominently in almost all of our conversations with our Israeli partners. It is often a central topic of conversation,” the spokesman said.

Lapid spoke on Monday with the French president, Emmanuel Macron, and conveyed to him that his government opposes the new nuclear agreement that is being negotiated with Iran and stressed that Israel reserves the right to act outside said pact.

The United States continues to prepare its response to the considerations that Iran made last week to the definitive proposal of the European Union (EU) for the return to the nuclear pact.

Price considered “encouraging” the fact that Iran “has withdrawn some of its demands”, such as the end of sanctions against the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, but there are still “some unfinished business” to resolve.

“We are working as fast as we can to give an adequate response to the Iranian document. It is a process that we want to carry out with the necessary rigor. I can guarantee that we will not take a single day longer than necessary,” he said.
