  • According to experts, undocumented migrants in Texas can also apply for a mortgage loan. We will tell you what you need to do it

One of the states that has a significant presence of Latinos in the United States is precisely Texas, which, according to the last census, has 678,815 inhabitants, of which 551,513 are Hispanic, which represents 81.25% of its total population.

With such a migrant population, it is to be expected that many of them will pursue the dream of buying a home in Texas. And taking into account that many of them must remain in the country without papers, they may be thinking that it would be difficult to process a mortgage loan. And yes, it can be, but it is not impossible. So in North County Tribune we are going to tell you what are the requirements that are needed to acquire a house in Texas.

According to the experts, they explained to Univision that undocumented migrants who want to buy a house in Texas need:

  • Personal Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) with your original letter. To obtain an ITIN, you must complete Form W-7 from the Internal Revenue Service. The W-7 form requires documentation proving foreign status and the true identity of each individual.
  • Proof of payment of rents. These documents could help you prove to banking institutions that you are a person committed to your payments.
  • Tax return for the last three years.
  • All salary vouchers that you have on hand.
  • Documents that prove your credit history. These can be the bills for electricity, water, your cell phone, the monthly payment of a car, to name a few.

Although most credit institutions ask you to have a Social Security number to grant you a mortgage loan, there are others that allow you to process it if you have a Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN, for its acronym in English) , which is the one that helps you pay and declare taxes in the United States as a foreign resident.
