The 18 fashion trends for spring-summer 2022

From the catwalk to the street, there is only one step. Our tips for adopting spring-summer trends brilliantly.

Must Read

In response to the gloomy news, spring-summer 2022 fashion is more lively and colorful than ever. On the program: yellow do you want some, sixties inspirations that rub shoulders with the stylistic icons of the 2000s and sexy details that arrive just in time for the beautiful days. Decryption.

THE KEY PIECES OF THE SPRING-SUMMER SEASON

The micro-skirt

It’s THE must-have piece for spring-summer 2022. On the catwalk last September, Miu Miu unveiled her belted micro-skirt in beige canvas, worn like a uniform with a cropped gray shirt and sweater. It immediately becomes the most discussed piece of this Fashion Week. If the version of the Italian house remains the most memorable, we also appreciate the proposals of Chanel, which associates it with an immaculate jacket buttoned up to the top, and Versace, where it imposes itself with a cropped rhinestone top.

The bermuda shorts

Present in our wardrobe for two summers already, Bermuda shorts continue their fashion rise by appearing on the catwalks of Dior, Miu Miu and Valentino. To wear it, we adopt it in a preppy way with patent babies, a romantic blouse and a fitted blazer jacket or a sports version, with trainers and a polo shirt.

The shouldered blazer

An essential piece for all seasons, the blazer is worn next to the skin this season, with marked shoulders. With matching shorts or skirt as seen at Versace or Saint Laurent, it wins every time.

The Y2K trend

The Y2K trend, in other words, the fashion of the 2000s, is on all fronts. While we thought peach-skin tracksuits, low-waisted pants, tight-fitting long-sleeved cropped tops, butterfly tops and jellyfish with heels were good to stay in the decade in question, this one was invited on the various catwalks of the spring-summer 2022 season, such as Missoni, Blumarine and Coperni. Summer will be kitsch.

The corset

Infinitely sexy but not the most comfortable piece of lingerie, the corset is getting a makeover. For several seasons already, certain houses like Balmain and Vivienne Westwood have been trying to rehabilitate it. It took until spring-summer 2022 for it to regain its past glory. At Tory Burch and Alexander McQueen, the corset becomes trompe-l’oeil on a spring dress. At Acne Studios, it envelops the silhouette from the chest to the hips to emphasize your waist like never before. At Tom Ford, it goes completely offbeat with a lamé skirt and a pink sweatshirt. The lesson to be learned? Wear it over an evening dress or everyday with contrasting pieces, like those from the sportswear wardrobe.

The skirt suit

Sixties-inspired, the skirt suit is essential for the season as a whole. In pink at Michael Kors, pop orange at Dior or turquoise at Moschino… The message is clear, we adopt it in color!

The low waist

For those who experienced the 2000s, this trend is sometimes traumatic. How can we forget the image of jeans hanging under Calvin Klein branded boxer shorts? Rehabilitated this season, the low waist is, fortunately, more moderate. At Miu Miu, chinos are worn belted, just below the hips. At Valentino, the masculine side of the quickdraw is counterbalanced with the help of a romantic transparent blouse. At Coperni, the attitude is sexier since the low-waisted black pants are assumed with a bandeau bikini top.

Fringes

The summer dressing room is imbued with the bohemian aesthetic with the help of wandering fringes. At the bottom of a nude dress at Balmain, along a long tight dress at Alaïa and covering a 20s-style mini dress at Dior. On a daily basis, we opt for a fringed jacket for a cowboy spirit or a sun dress with fringes at the bottom that we associate with summer sandals.

Hooves

Both adored and hated, clogs do not leave anyone indifferent. While some will never dare to adopt them, others will wear them with denim shorts and a romantic blouse for a look that’s bang on trend. On the catwalks, these shoes like no other have been seen at Gucci, Givenchy, Paco Rabanne, Alaïa and Ganni.

The hook

Giving an ultra-desirable bohemian look, crochet is a must for a day by the sea as well as for a walk in town. As at Chloé, it is worn over a top with white pants and sandals, or simply with denim shorts and a swimsuit underneath.

Apparent lingerie

This season again, we proudly display our underwear. To adopt this trend, wear it with matching shorts or pants like at Balmain and Givenchy, or under a low-waisted skirt like at Chanel.

The swimsuit worn as a top

The beach comes to town. Next summer, beachwear will be worn every day! At Coperni, the bandeau bikini top is paired with printed leggings and at Isabel Marant, the triangle top is worn over a t-shirt. Bold.

Le cut-out

Want to assume a sexy look without overdoing it? That’s good, the cut-out trend was everywhere on the spring-summer 2022 catwalks. For a casual look, we adopt it on a colorful top with thoughtful cutouts that we associate with simple raw jeans. In the evening, we dare it on a black top with a leather skirt or black pants. The most sensual option? Adopt it on a black dress with ultra sexy cutouts.

Transparency

A trend already seen during the spring-summer 2021 fashion shows, transparent clothing is making a strong comeback for a new season. At Emporio Armani, it is revealed on fluid pants to wear during the day. The same at Acne Studios, which displays it on vitamin tops and jumpsuits. At Chanel, it imposes itself in a bohemian way on a long floral skirt. In the evening, we wear it Alaïa style over a sculptural long dress.

THE COLORS OF THE SPRING-SUMMER SEASON

Yellow

It’s the feel good color of the moment. Seen at Dior, Chanel or even Max Mara, yellow comes to awaken the complexion with blows of monochrome sets. We validate.

Le color block

A key trend at the end of the 2000s, color blocking is making a comeback. At Versace, Naomi Campbell unveiled on the catwalk a candy pink trouser suit that she associated with a blood orange top. The perfect silhouette to sum up the style we will adopt this season.

Pastel shades

Baby blue, powder pink, water green, lavender… As spring approaches, winter black is traded in for pastel shades that put you in a good mood.

The silver

This summer, we’re swapping gold for silver. To avoid the mirror ball look in broad daylight, wear it over an evening dress, as seen at Balenciaga. Perfect for enhancing the tan.
