Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Anthony Rizzo and Gleyber Torres each homered for the New York Yankees, who posted their seventh win on Friday, 12-2 over the Kansas City Royals, in a rain-shortened game.
The match was called after eight innings.
New York led 3-2 in the seventh inning before scoring four runs, including three on Judge’s home run. Torres hit a two-run homer during an eight-run eighth inning.
Cuban Néstor Cortés (1-0) gave up one earned run and eight hits over five innings.
The Yankees wasted no time putting pressure on Kris Bubic (0-2). DJ LeMahieu opened the game with a double that hit the right-field wall, and Judge lined out to center field.
Rizzo then hit his home run across the middle lawn.
For the Yankees, Venezuelans Marwin González 1-0, Torres 4-1 with one run scored and two produced. The Dominican Miguel Andújar 1-0.
For the Royals, Venezuelans Salvador Pérez 4-2 with an RBI, Edward Olivares 2-1 with a run scored. Dominican Carlos Santana 3-1.
