Rockies snap Cardinals’ 7-game win streak

Must Read

Ryan McMahon hit a 495-foot homer, the longest by a Colorado player at Coors Field, and the Rockies thrashed the St. Louis Cardinals 16-5 Tuesday night, whose seven-game winning streak was snapped.

Randal Grichuk went 5-for-5 as part of the offensive fest. Starter Miles Mikolas, chosen for the All-Star Game this season, was battered for 10 runs and 14 hits in just 2 2/3 innings.

CJ Cron homered and doubled on a night he had five RBIs. Grichuk had another home run for Colorado, which had 22 hits.

McMahon’s two-run shot in the seventh against T.J. McFarland is the fourth longest in Coors history. It was the second-longest this season—Jesus Sanchez hit a 496-footer at the Coors on May 30.

The Rockies immunized Ryan Feltner (2-3) for a 12-0 lead before St. Louis scored their first two runs on Paul DeJong’s fifth-inning homer.

For the Cardinals, no Latin Americans hit.

For the Rockies, Venezuelans Yonathan Daza 1-0, Elías Díaz 5-1 with two produced. Cuban José Iglesias 5-3 with two runs scored and one RBI. Dominican Elehuris Montero 5-2 with two runs scored.
