The University of Georgia announced the extension of head coach Kirby Smart through a press release. The coach will stay at Sandford Stadium for the next ten years in exchange for $112.5 million, based on the ESPN report.
With this contract extension Kirby becomes the highest paid head coach in all of college football . LSU’s Brian Kelly and Michigan State’s Mel Tucker have 10-year, $95 million contracts.

Kirby has had a successful stage with the Bulldogs since in six seasons in charge of the team he registers a mark of 66-15 in the regular season and 6-2 in the disputed bowls. Additionally, the head coach guided the University of Georgia to two College Championship Games (2017 and 2021) and they won the most recent edition.
“My family and I are excited and grateful for the extension of my agreement with the University of Georgia. This is our home, we have roots here. My commitment to the University and the football team is unwavering ,” Kirby stated in a statement released by the university.
In May 2018, Smart signed a seven-year, $49 million extension for an annual average of $7 million. With the new agreement, his salary will increase progressively from 10.25 million dollars in 2022 to 12.25 in 2031.
