Sony could include PlayStation 5 compatibility in electric Honda cars

Must Read

In the middle of this year, Sony and Honda announced a major collaboration, the founding of a company to “establish a new company to engage in the sale of high value-added electric vehicles and the provision of mobility services.” Well, it seems that this collaboration will begin to bear fruit, as everything indicates that the units will include PlayStation 5, or at least some compatibility with the console.

According to a report in the Financial Times (via IGN), the new Sony Honda Mobility venture will have a heavy focus on entertainment, despite being primarily mobility. Izumi Kawanishi, COO, accepted that the great rival is Tesla, but that by joining the strengths of Sony and Honda, there is an advantage:

“Sony has content, services and entertainment technologies that move people. We are adapting these assets to mobility, and this is our strength against Tesla,” Kawanishi said in an interview with the Financial Times.

The first Sony Honda Mobility vehicles are expected to start shipping sometime in 2025. And while the above statement doesn’t necessarily imply that the cars will literally come with an embedded PS5, there are other ways they could include compatibility. In recent years, PlayStation has ported many of their highest-profile games to PC, so they are no longer beginners in the art of tweaking them to make them compatible with other platforms.

On the other side of the scale is Tesla, which already lets you install a wide variety of games, from Cuphead and Sonic to The Witcher 3. In addition, it is in the testing phase to add interaction with Steam.
