Problems with PCI Express 4.0, Gigabyte recalls a mini-ITX motherboard

Gigabyte announced a recall for the motherboard Z690I AORUS ULTRAa solution mini-ITX intended for Intel 12th Generation Core CPUcodenamed Alder Lake.

The Taiwanese company has ascertained, after the reports of some users, that there are certain cases in which they occur system instability and “WHEA PCIe” errors when some video cards with PCI Express 4.0 interface are installed on the Z690I.

The temporary solution is to enter the BIOS and set the PCI Express to version 3.0while those who want to definitively solve the problem must cambiare motherboard: Gigabyte has started a special program to allow AORUS Ultra owners to upgrade to a Z690I AORUS ULTRA PLUS or equivalent, or request a refund.

This offer applies to all customers who have purchased the “Z690I AORUS ULTRA DDR4” or “Z690I AORUS ULTRA DDR5” motherboard from “non-third party” resellers who can enter the motherboard serial number and provide proof of purchase. Users who have just started or already completed the RMA process are also involved.
