- In an interview Shakira opens her heart about how she faces the moment she lives for the good of her and her children.
The Colombian singer Shakira assures that she is in “one of the most difficult and darkest hours” of her life and that there is no place where she can hide from the photographers with her children, in addition to emphasizing that, for her, writing music is ” like going to the psychiatrist”, her “castaway table”.
Shakira (Barranquilla, 1977), speaks for the first time about the separation this summer from Spanish soccer player Gerard Piqué, with whom she has two children.
“Sometimes I feel that this is all a bad dream and that I am going to wake up at some point. But no, it is real. And what is also real is the disappointment of seeing how something so sacred and sacred has been vulgarized and cheapened by the media. as special as I thought the relationship I had with the father of my children was,” she said.
“And all of this while my dad has been in the ICU and I have been fighting on different fronts. Like I said, it’s probably the darkest time of my life,”
The Colombian composer and performer remembers that her ex-partner “wanted to play soccer and win titles” and she had to support him.
“Either she left her contract with Barcelona (her team) and moved to the United States with me, where my career is, or I would have to do that in her place,” she explains.
And so, she continues, one of the two had to make that effort and that sacrifice. “And I did. I put my career in the background and I came to Spain to support him so that she could play football and win titles. And it was an act of love,” she emphasizes. “Thanks to that, my children were able to have a mom present, and I have with them this incredible bond that is unbreakable and that sustains us. You know, that’s it … That’s all I can say.”
Shakira makes it clear that her children occupy the priority place in her life and in the actions that she carries out.
“Regardless of how things turned out or how Gerard and I felt as a former partner, she is the father of my children. We have a job to do for these two amazing children, and I have faith that we will find out what is best for their future and the fair solution for all. And I hope and I would be grateful if they gave us the space to do it in private”, says the artist.
But, she adds: “There is no place where I can hide from photographers with my children, except in my own house. go on.”
THE PROBLEMS WITH THE SPANISH TREASURY
The singer rejected the agreement offered by the Spanish Prosecutor’s Office to avoid being tried for defrauding the Treasury of 14.5 million euros and decided to go to trial for tax fraud, given that she “fully” trusts her innocence, in addition to being “a matter of beginning”.
“Even without evidence to support these fictitious claims, they have resorted to a lewd press campaign to try to sway people and put pressure on the media along with the threat of reputational damage to force settlement agreements,” it notes.
And she assures that “it is well known that the Spanish tax authorities often do this not only with well-known people” like her or the soccer players Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar or Xabi Alonso, “but it also happens unfairly with other anonymous taxpayers.”
About her profession, she points out that, for her, writing music is like going to the psychiatrist, “only cheaper” and helps her heal.
