A Florida judge sentenced David Lavin Jr., 30, to 27 life sentences for repeatedly raping an 8-year-old girl, recording the sexual abuse and distributing child pornography with the help of a friend who was sentenced to four chains perpetual.

The Polk County Police Department said David Lavin Jr. and Harrison Egbert, 33, both of Winter Haven, were sentenced to consecutive life sentences by Judge Catherine L. Combee.

Both men repeatedly sexually abused the victim together, and recorded and distributed child pornography. “Egbert also sexually abused two other boys,” police said in reporting the sentences that were announced by the judge last Thursday.

“Over the years we have dealt with some truly despicable men who commit some of the most heinous crimes against children imaginable, but these two are the worst of the worst… Lavin and Egbert will be locked up for the rest of their lives, where they will not be able to hurt the most innocent victims: our children,” said Polk Police Chief Grady Judd.

Lavin and Egbert were arrested during a month-long undercover child pornography investigation between August and September 2021.

Police said that on Sept. 16, 2021, detectives served a search warrant at Egbert’s home and located 1,000 videos and images of children as young as 2 years old being sexually abused.

Egbert told detectives that he had seen “thousands” of child pornography files, some featuring “babies” on SnapChat and Instagram, according to authorities.

“In addition, he confessed to having sexually abused three girls (ages 5, 7 and 8). Egbert told detectives that he videotaped and photographed the sexual assault with the help of his friend David Lavin, Jr., 30, of Winter Haven,” according to the police report issued last year.

During questioning, Lavin admitted to detectives his involvement in multiple sexual assault and child pornography offenses.
