The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador ( AMLO ), had a phone call with his American counterpart, Joe Biden, about development and the Summit of the Americas , which will be held in Los Angeles, California, in June.
He announced that the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Marcelo Ebrard, will travel to Washington on Monday to advance on both issues.
He mentioned the above in a message that he uploaded to his social networks .
“We had a friendly conversation with President Biden. We discussed issues of interest in the bilateral relationship and we agreed that Secretary Marcelo Ebrard will visit Washington on Monday to advance on issues of cooperation for development and the Summit of the Americas,” he wrote.
He also published a photograph showing that he is accompanied by Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard and a translator.
The Presidency of the Republic has not reported the details of the call, such as the duration and the issues addressed between the two presidents.
White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said that the telephone conversation between Presidents Biden and López Obrador was “constructive”, where the central issue was the migratory flow.
He explained that the call lasted 52 minutes, where they mainly discussed migration , actions to reduce the flow at the border.
According to the White House spokeswoman, “it was a cordial call ” and the tone was “very constructive.”
