Microsoft: Nintendo offers more adult content than Xbox

Must Read

Both Microsoft and Sony are pulling evidence and arguments wherever they can to support their position on the Activision Blizzard acquisition. Today we will talk about one that came to light in which Microsoft claims that there is more adult content on Nintendo Switch than on Xbox consoles.

You read it right, this statement was part of a document that Microsoft sent to the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) to refute the argument of its conception in which it mentions that Sony is the closest competitor to Microsoft in terms of consoles. , implying that Nintendo offers content for another sector of consumers (more suitable for all ages).

There is more adult content on Nintendo Switch

In said document, Microsoft claims that the CMA is misrepresenting Nintendo as a family-oriented company, thereby omitting that more adult games are available on Nintendo Switch and that they are even “actively” promoted on its official YouTube channel and put as an example to “Apex Legends, The Witcher 3, Doom Eternal, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, Cult of the Lamb, NieR: Automata – The End of YoRHa Edition, Alan Wake Remastered, Crysis Remastered, Outlast, LITTLE NIGHTMARES, Five Nights at Freddy’s and Life is Strange”.

Interestingly, to further illustrate its point, Microsoft used Bayonetta 3 to show how Nintendo Switch games can even hint at sexuality and include high-sounding words like ‘f*ck’ and ‘shit’. In addition to the fact that Nintendo offers “innovative ways to play” does not stop competing with PlayStation and Xbox directly and closely.

Microsoft, honestly, did not say something false, since there is more software for adults on Nintendo Switch than on Xbox consoles for the simple fact that indie developers usually bring their games to PC and Nintendo Switch or PlayStation before Xbox.

However, Microsoft’s argument is useful to support that the Nintendo Switch can indeed offer content for a diverse audience. In that sense, the Nintendo Switch competes evenly in terms of adult content, but Microsoft does not talk about how different the specifications of the Nintendo console are or how its proposal is less similar to that offered by Xbox and Sony in terms of content. support of external studies.
