How to Wash Brooms: 5 Steps to Do It Right

Must Read

The brooms must be cleaned regularly because the dirt remains deep   and hardly comes off if you do not wash periodically (every two or three months) and in any case it is necessary to eliminate, every time, the dust that remains adhering to the bristles using a fine-toothed comb. . What is the procedure for an effective result? Here are the 5 steps to wash brooms the right way

1. Remove debris

Remove dust and hair adhering to the broom using gloved hands to remove larger debris, then slam the broom on the floor to clear more.

2. Soap

Prepare the large, tall bucket so the brooms can be submerged as best as possible. Add a couple of drops of dish soap to warm water. If one of the brooms is used for bathroom floors, add two drops of bleach as a disinfectant.

3. Lava

Brooms with plastic bristles, soak them in soapy water for 30 minutes to an hour, while natural fiber brooms soak them for 15 minutes to prevent the bristles from weakening and fraying.

4. Rinse

Rinse the mops from the foam under running water. Rub the bristles between your fingers until all the soap is gone and the running water runs clear.

5. Disinfect and let dry

Clean the handle of the broom with a disinfectant spray and then place them on the terrace with the bristles facing up to dry them. Better to place them in sunlight to kill any bacteria.
