To preserve your skin against external aggressions, it is a good idea to regularly apply facial masks. This nourishes it deeply, makes it less tired and brighter. But, for this cocooning routine, there is no need to go broke in cosmetics: some homemade ingredients can do the trick perfectly. Like honey and lemon. In a pinch, yes indeed, the only expense would be that of plain yogurt (if you don’t already have it in the fridge!). This is the essential basis for concocting a list of masks and scrubs for the skin. Yes, it is also the perfect alternative to moisturizer, makeup remover and even care for acne-prone skin.

Very popular, yogurt face masks have incredible virtues on the skin. And it’s not new: this multivitamin superfood has been used since ancient times to promote smooth, radiant skin! Discover quickly how to easily prepare it at home.

Why is yogurt so good for the skin?

Rich in skin-friendly nutrients such as vitamin B, calcium, lactic acid, and zinc, yogurt is  an amazing beauty ingredient that you should start using in your face masks .

Lactic Acid (type of AHA) helps exfoliate the epidermis by dissolving dead cells, thus keeping the skin clear and clean.

The top layer of the skin is made up of vital nutrients and one of them is calcium. If your body lacks it, your skin will tend to be more dry and scaly. Thus, yogurt will make up for this deficit!

Zinc: this mineral is reputed to fight acne, it is also infused in most products that treat acne-prone skin. When used topically, zinc is effective in treating inflammatory acne in particular.

Vitamin B has important moisturizing properties and does a lot of good for dry skin. Plus, it fights free radicals that steal oxygen from healthy skin cells and damage them. This will significantly slow down the aging process of the skin.

Yogurt Face Mask Recipes to Cure and Prevent Acne

Eating yogurt is almost as good as applying it to your face. Its lactic acid effectively fights against skin imperfections, especially acne, but also maintains the natural pH balance of the skin, thus reducing all unsightly pimples. Whether of genetic, hormonal or hygienic origin, this inflammatory skin disease is characterized by the eruption of red pimples, cysts and blackheads. It affects adolescents more easily, but many adults are also victims.

Yogurt and honey facial mask

Honey is a natural moisturizer, which means it binds moisture into your skin cells. It also contains antibacterial, antifungal and antiseptic properties that fight acne germs and heal pimple sores. As a bonus, honey has skin-brightening properties that fade acne scars and dark spots. If you have red acne, which is aesthetically very disturbing and very itchy, honey is a real savior thanks to its  anti-inflammatory properties which soothe the inflamed and painful acne .

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon raw honey
  • 1 tablespoon of yogurt

Preparation

Cleanse your face well so that it is clean and dry. Mix the above ingredients in a bowl and apply this mask on your face avoiding the eye area and on your neck. Leave on for 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing off with lukewarm water. As this face mask is quite sticky, so use it on the kitchen or bathroom sink. Of course, if you don’t want to apply it by hand, you can use a suitable brush. Then gently dry your skin with a towel. Avoid abrupt gestures so as not to aggravate already inflamed acne. Finally, before going to bed, apply a night care (cream or oil).

Yogurt and Lemon Face Mask

Did you know that yogurt contains helpful probiotic bacteria that can kill acne-causing germs? Added with lemon, this face mask will help deeply cleanse your face and soothe inflamed acne.

Lemon is a natural astringent that will tone your pimply face. It also contains citric acid which helps relieve existing acne scars. Lemon juice  also removes excess sebum and clogged oils  from deep within the pores of the skin, preventing the appearance of new acne.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon plain yogurt

Preparation

Squeeze the lemon and collect its juice in a small bowl. Add the yogurt and mix well until smooth. Keep cool if you are not going to apply it immediately.

Cleanse your face with mild soap and water to remove makeup and impurities. Using clean fingertips, spread the mask over your face with a light circular motion. Wait 10 minutes or until the entire mask is dry. Rinse your face with lukewarm water. Dry with a soft towel. Then apply a drop of olive oil to moisturize your skin, if you feel your face is a bit dry, stiff and tight.

Use this mask once or twice a week to nourish the epidermis and heal pimples.

Warning

This kind of mask does not keep very well. It is therefore important to use it for a single use only and to repeat the same process the day you want to apply it again.
