Amed Rosario homered leading off and drove in the game-winning run in the 11th inning of the Cleveland Guardians’ 6-5 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday .
Rosario lined up past Christian Walker, who lunged for the ball at first base, and drove in rookie Will Benson from third, sparking celebrations behind the mound.
Rosario, who had hit a two-run homer in the first, hit an 0-1 pitch from Mark Melancon (3-10), the Diamondbacks’ 10th pitcher. Benson started the inning as an automatic runner at second and advanced to third on an Austin Hedges bunt.
Arizona broke a tie in the 10th when Ketel Marte produced one and caused a double play, but Gimenez tied it with an RBI single.
The victory went to Sam Hentges (3-2), while Melancon took the loss.
