DHL, agreement for 44 Volvo Trucks electric trucks

DHL has made it official that he has signed a agreement with Volvo Trucks for the supply of 44 new electric trucks. The first six vehicles in the fleet will go to DHL Parcel UK, in Great Britain, and another two to DHL Freight.

Not surprisingly, DHL has started a transition process that is slowly leading to the electrification of the trucks of its fleet dedicated to transport, confirming the goal of achieving zero emissions by 2050 as part of his plan Mission 2050. In fact, let’s not forget that the collaboration between DHL and Volvo Trucks has been going on for some time now.

According to what was released, the collaboration agreement between the two companies not only provides for the supply of an additional 44 electric trucks that will expand the current DHL fleet, but also provides for theadoption of innovative Volvo technologies which will be joined by the development work in the field of electrification. However, Volvo Trucks will not fail to analyze transport operations of DHL in order to develop specific electric transport solutions.

We are committed to meeting the growing customer demand for green and sustainable solutions also to reach the net zero carbon milestone by 2050, commented Pablo Ciano, executive vice president for corporate development at DHL Group.

Among the 44 electric trucks ordered 40 will be Volvo FE Electric e Volvo FL Electric to be used for intra-city deliveries and 4 Volvo FM Electric which will be used on UK roads. Specifically, Volvo FE Electric models have a powertrain with 225 kW with an autonomy of up to 200 km thanks to the presence of a large capacity battery. To distinguish the Volvo FL Electric models is, however, the presence of a powertrain with power of 130 kW and battery that offers a range of up to 300 km, depending on the chosen capacity.

Thanks to the recent agreement, the use of the new green vehicles will make it possible to save almost 600 tons of CO2 and nearly 225,000 liters of diesel per year.
